This November we are lucky enough to be joined by the Winners of the British Sewing Award's 'The best fabric range', Shute Lane! Their 'British Wildflowers' design beat off nationwide competition from large national and international companies for the overall win! The category was Judged by Juliet Uzor, founder of the Half Yard Sewing Club and winner of BBCs Great British Sewing Bee 2019.
Vikki Ellis, owner and designer at Shute Lane said “'I can't believe it! I feel humbled and grateful, as winning this award is a massive thing for me as a small, independent business who works tirelessly to get noticed and make an impact. My design ‘British Wildflowers’ is inspired by the beautiful Devon countryside; the lanes I walk and the views I see each day. I have always been inspired by the everyday in whatever I do and although nature is extraordinarily complex, my style is very simple. It is so important for me to focus on the beauty of an individual, whether it be a plant or animal. The strength of a collective comes from a single and my designs are about making a heroic image, giving it impact and importance using both colour and form. This design is an organic range and will continue to expand over time.”
Make sure you check out their stand, A13, at the show, and be sure to congratulate them on their amazing win!!
