For over ten years Melanie has been working as a sculptor creating distinctive sculptures that use a range of materials to emphasise the movement of the subject. Each piece is unique starting as a simple wire structure that determines the pose and creates a skeleton to support the additional layers providing texture and colour to the sculpture. Often the simple wire sketch is a sculpture in its own right and this approach makes a very accessible introduction to the subject for anyone interested in trying sculpture for the first time.
