Stitches of Valor

The 6-Foot Tribute to Remembrance Sunday.

We are excited to unveil a remarkable knitting project inspired by the themes and sentiments of Remembrance Sunday. This creation, available to view everyday, truly embodies the pinnacle of what passionate knitters and dedicated groups can accomplish. The sheer artistry and dedication demonstrated in this project have left us absolutely spellbound!

In a heart-warming gesture of reverence, a knitting group from Bristol's ExtraCare’s Stoke Gifford Retirement Village has meticulously crafted an awe-inspiring 6-foot-tall Knitted Soldier in honour of Remembrance Sunday.

Undertaken by the village's esteemed Knit & Natter group, this towering tribute was a three-month collaborative effort of 12 extraordinary residents, whose ages span from 63 to 93. Not only was this endeavour a testament to their remarkable skill, but also a celebration of unity and inclusiveness.

Despite challenges like blindness, memory loss, or reduced dexterity, each member poured heart and soul into this project, reigniting a cherished passion for knitting.

Their spirit and camaraderie exemplify the true essence of community!
