Mayflower needs your help!
Dartmouth Stitchery Group invite you to contribute to their amazing Mayflower 400 project.
The Mayflower 400 project will celebrate both Dartmouth's history and involvement with the Mayflower voyage in 1620 and its vibrancy today, encouraging visitors to our town and providing a colourful legacy.
What you need to do….
We are working towards achieving 6000, yes – now 6000! rectangular pennants (NOT triangular)
The finished size should be A4(210mm x 297mm) or (8.3in x 11.7in)
Made of fabric : sewn, appliqued and COLOUR-FAST, as they'll be hung outside for several weeks painted (but make sure this is waterproof – it rains in the Devon)
Predominately red, white or blue or any combination of these colours
They can be plain or patterned - nautical, stripes, floral, anything you like
There is no need to have an image on both sides
Ideally backed for robustness (unless the fabric is substantial)
The pennants will be machine onto sturdy strapping by others, so no need to provide a hanging method
Why not include an element inspired by the Mayflower Pilgrims or check out the Websites and Social media for ideas?
There will a central drop-off point for both storage and any donated fabrics (old sheets, charity shop finds etc) so contact us at:
