Demonstrations in Wire work, Q&A with Holly Berkley

The lovely Holly will be running demonstrations on how to create your own wire jewellery and wire craft. Paint Pouring Workshop - Paint Pouring with Sarah

Times: 10am & 11.30am & 1.00pm & 3pm Running all 3 days

Location: Workshop Room 4 (Child Friendly Workshop)

Price to attend: £10 for one tile or £15 for two

In this fantastic workshop, run by the lovely Sarah Kennard, you will work with water-based acrylic paint and other materials to create a unique piece of work on a tile or two if you wish!

You do not need any experience (or artisitic ability!) to take part in this workshop so come and have a go at a new skill.

Children over the age of 6 can take part in this workshop, but they must be accompanied by a supervising adult who does not have to take part if they do not wish to.

Come and enjoy playing with block printing with these magical transfer paints  to make a design which, when dry, will be heat transferred on to fabric. You will take this lovely piece of art  home to embellish with stitch to make up into a card - (card, envelope and wadding included).

Parchment Craft Taster Session

Time: 11am & 12.00pm & 1.30pm & 2.30pm & 3.30pm Running all 3 days

Location: Balcony Stand G14 - The Association of Parchment Craft

Cost to Attend: TBA

The Association of Parchment Craft will be running taster sessions for you to have a go at this lovely craft. 

The session will give you the opportunity to try some of the tools and techniques used in parchment craft. 

You will have the opportunity to make either a mouse, penguin or a snowman and each class will take around 30 to 45 minutes. 

  

Creative Slow Stitch (Friday Only)

Time: Friday 19th October at 11.00am OR 12.30pm OR 2.00pm

Location: Balcony Stand G13 - West Country Embroiderers

This workshop will be run by Paula Simpson, a member of Sherborne West Country Embroiderers. Her workshop is inspired by the mindfullness movement and you will get to make a lovely, simple card using a needle, natural cloth and thread.

Folk Art Applique (Saturday Only)

This workshop is run by Pascale Taylor, a member the of Embroiderers Guild, in conjunction with the Young Embroiderers Guild.

Pascale will teach you to make a lovely, small card using colourful folk art images on black material.

Fairy Tree House (Friday Only)

In this workshop you will create your own fantastic Fairy Tree House! Using a mdf art shrine from That's Crafty you will turn this into a magical little tree house, complete with it's own fairy book! This will involve using chalk paint, texture paste, inks + Lavinia stamps.

Experimental Wet Felting Workshop (Child Friendly)

Time: 11am & 12pm & 2pm & 3pm Running all 3 days

Location: Balcony Stand G17 - Felt Sew Somerset

Cost to Attend: £5.00 

In this lovely workshop run by Tracey Bartlett, you will learn the traditional skill of wet felting. You will be shown how to handle and lay out the wool fibres as well how to embellish your work with wool curls. The final product will be a small piece of experimental flat felt to be use to cover a note book. This can then be embellished further at home with beads, sequins or buttons. 

Don't worry if you have never done wet felting before, this class is suitable for beginners so come and have a go! The workshop is also suitable for children, an adult should also be present to supervise but they do not need to participate.

Circle Weaving

Time: 11am Running all 3 days

Location: Balcony Stand G6 - Big Sky Textiles

This fun workshop will introduce you a new way of weaving - in a circle! Using just a simple cardboard (or pizza base!) loom, you can weave a small wall-hanging, a coaster or a bowl - we will all start with the same basic tools and techniques but I will show you how to add a variety of materials, different techniques and shaping to make your weaving uniquely yours! 

I teach weaving using simple, inexpensive tools so it’s easy to learn and accessible to everyone.  No previous experience necessary - I supply all the materials and the techniques, you just bring your creativity and a willingness to experiment and play!

Each workshop is limited to 6 people so there is plenty of time for individual attention but still enough new people to chat and share ideas with.

Nuno Feltmaking with Gillian Burbidge from Bicton College

NUNO FELTMAKING - with Gillian Burbidge from Bicton College 30-minute workshop at a cost of £6. 00. Create a sumptuous nuno piece (approximately A3 in size) using finest merino, embellished with lustrous pearled Leicester Longwool and Silk fibres. "Tailor-made" for lampshade or vessel cover, and/or further embroidery.

Print, Print and Print with Alison Hulme (Thursday Only)

Alison is a well-known and respected textile artist, demonstrating how to use stencils, stamps and Gelly plates.  Art Van Go have her as one of their regular demonstrators. There are 10 seats per session, each session lasts an hour. A donation would be appreciated to cover costs.

Quayside Postcard

Time: 11am & 2.30pm Running all 3 days

Location: Balcony Stand G1 - Anne Hellyer

Cost to Attend: £7

Come along and create your own unique fabric “Quay Side” postcard to take home and stitch.  

This workshop will run for approximately one hour, in which time you will design your own A6 postcard featuring a little row of houses, using acrylic paint to embellish them. These will be mounted onto a background to create your own quay side scene, which you can then take home and stitch, either by hand or machine.
 
All the fabrics used are hand painted by Anne and she will also tell you how to create your own painted fabrics for future projects.

Needle Felted Seascape (child friendly)

This lovely workshop is suitable for begginers and accompanied children of 8yrs upwards.

Joan Prowse, a very talented, skilled felter will be leading this workshop to make a seascape and will be on hand to offer advice on Felting and help you as you embark on your Felting Journey!

This workshop is expected to be very popular and is only available for up to 6 people so we recommend you book in advance.

FELTbyFi Daisy Brooch

Wire Sculpture Workshop - Melanie Deegan Sculpture

Time: 11.30am & 2.00pm Running all 3 days.

Location: Balcony Stand G5

Cost to Attend: £12.50

Create a simple wire sculpture either freestanding or mounted in a plaster base. This simple approach to sculpture is suitable for anyone and no previous experience is required. It can be a useful addition to textile based work by providing a framework for felt structures, fabric jewellery, etc.

We will be using animals, figures or plant forms as the inspiration for our sculptures. All tools and materials provided.

Workshop Room 1 - Glass Garden Studio

The Glass Garden Studio is holding Stained Glass Copper Foiling workshops at the show - no experience necessary, just a willingness to try something a little bit special with beautiful glass.  Lots of designs to choose from and we will guide you every step of the way!



The workshop will be running every day of the show at the following time;

10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 & 3:30.  The cost is £17 and there will be 12 places available, Each workshop will last for around 1 hour.
