Free Tapestry Weaving

 Handwoven tapestry wall-hangings are really popular right now - come and learn how it’s done and create your own unique piece of wall art.

 Using a pre-warped weaving loom, enjoy some peaceful time learning a variety of tapestry weaving techniques and experimenting with a range of different natural materials, including lots of British wool and recycled materials.

Peg Loom Weaving

 Take a break from the busy show to spend a relaxing hour making your own small rug or seat cushion.  Using a pre-warped wooden peg loom, you can choose from a range of chunky wool selvedge yarn or cotton fabric yarn to weave a useful little rug for your home, and learn lots about simple weaving along the way!

Sock Masterclass

Socks are knitted in the round using either the traditional 4 double point needle technique (dpns) or the Magic Loop method which involves working on straight rows on a circular needle.  For those of you who have tried to knit socks in the traditional method on dpns and failed or have wanted to learn and thought it too difficult so haven't tried we will be working with the Magic Loop method so you can ditch those dpns!  We will be covering cast on, cuff, heel shaping and toe shaping. At the end of the class you will have mastered the techniques and completed a sock Sock. Yarn and needles included.

You have an option to do either a front cover of a journal or a small canvas in case you have done one of the others before. This is a very popular fun workshop where you will be using powertex products, creating textures/cracking/layering, using embellishments, paints,pigments and adorning your pieces with your own mixed media style. All products provided ( including 1 journal or 1 canvas) gloves and aprons if required and tutored with a fully certified Powertex tutor. Mixed Media Powertex Wine glass Workshop

Come along and learn how to sculpt fabric and adorn your wine glass with embellishments and see how easy it could be to show off a set your own hand made glasses when your friends and or family come round to visit. Powertex is a fabric hardening artists medium that is water soluble when wet but weatherproof once cured so your Glasses will be wipe-able and washable after curing time but not dishwasher safe. All products provided ( including 1 wine glass) gloves and aprons if required and tutored with a fully certified Powertex tutor. Please note classes take place in Workshop Room 2 situated in the main hall. Feel like your reaching back in time and discover how you can create sculptural reproductions of Fossil and Egyptian Stone artefacts using Powertex stone art techniques.
